Emotional intelligence, a concept popularized and scientifically established by Daniel Goleman, is an extremely useful construct, especially in the context of the so-called VUCA of the modern business environment (VUCA= volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity). The elements of emotional intelligence are:

  • social skills
  • motivation

Studies show that emotional intelligence is related to professional success and contributes to high functionality in cognitive-based and complex jobs more than the general intelligence score (the so-called IQ score).
